Virgil is a little penguin who is pretty adventurous. He was out playing and he finds a polar bear and he decides that the polar bear is going to be his polar bear. So, he takes him out the play, but everywhere he goes, the polar bear is very popular.
Other people want to play with him but Virgil does not want to share him. That’s his polar bear. He let’s everybody know…that’s my polar bear. So, this is the ideal story for somebody who does not like to share their friends or possibly their parents. It’s a fun story told in an amusing way.
The illustrations show lively winter scenes reminiscent of Anartica where penguins and polar bears live. It’s done in pen and ink with watercolor.
I would definitely add this to my must-read list of books for preschoolers on friendship. We all know that preschoolers can be a little bit bossy and maybe take control and this is a fun way of dealing with this issue so they can build friendships are they grow up.
